iBUILD and iLima have jointly launched their new partnership to make available innovative technologies for developers within the construction industry.

Both companies are pioneering solutions for greater ecosystem collaboration and the use of technology to accelerate housing construction across Africa and realize that jointly, they can make a powerful difference within the construction sector toward that end.

iLima Digital Foundary will officially launch the AI-driven Afrika Construction Innovation Platform (ACIP) at the 36th Annual AUHF Conference this week. The conference will focus on drawing in investors, developers, and professionals to discuss and debate market growth and opportunities in green development, infrastructure building, services, job and inclusive economic growth.

The ACIP AI platform will be demonstrated for the first time in public and features an open digital platform offering many new alternative construction technologies to improve the lives of communities through efficient delivery of affordable housing to South Africa and Africa. The conference theme centers around “Investing in the SDGs – Finding a Market Opportunity in Affordable Housing”.

ACIP addresses a number of the Sustainable Development Goals set for 2030 with the main focus on increasing resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies.

The 36^th annual African Union for Housing Finance (AUHF) (www.AUHF.co.za) Virtual Conference & AGM (www.AUHFconference.com | 02-06 November 2020) will connect hundreds of senior African and international investors, financiers and developers online under the theme, “Investing in the SDGs: Finding a market opportunity in affordable housing, says its organiser and host Kecia Rust, of the AUHF Secretariat and the Centre for Affordable Housing Finance in Africa.

Autodesk, the world’s leading design software company, is partnering with iLima Digital Foundary whose mission is to pioneer alternative technologies and alternative business models for affordable housing for Africa.

This will be delivered through iLima’s new Africa Construction Innovation Platform (ACIP) and Smart Building Advisor (SBA) which will aim to accelerate the building of safe, high quality, sustainable, low cost homes for Africa.

While most industries are well advanced in their digital transformation, the construction industry is still in its infancy. Current construction processes are not capable of addressing Africa’s booming construction needs of >500million homes and buildings in the next 30 years (this equates to >45 000 homes per day, Source Shelter Afrique). Traditional construction is known for its exorbitant costs, significantly high levels of waste (>35%), lengthy construction times, insufficient quality, and unsustainable materials.  Covid19 acts a key catalyst to accelerate change in construction in terms of technological investment and social distancing.

JOHANNESBURG, June 02, 2020 — iLima Digital Foundary, has partnered with US-based nonprofit New Story to bring Felix, a rapid data collection and analysis platform, to iLima’s Afrika Construction Innovation Platform (ACIP). Most recently, New Story teamed up with construction tech company ICON to build the world’s first 3D printed neighbourhood in Mexico as part of their mission to pioneer solutions to end global homelessness.

The board is comprised of diverse, innovative and extremely well-connected network of top-flight Silicon Valley executives. The program dives into the diverse potential of big data as well as the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for developing predictive and analytical models.
